Vas Happenin' y'all!
It's ya girl, Francy Lopez aka Fran aka Frank aka Frangirl aka Frans aka Franky! My pronouns are she, her, hers, and I am this year's Webmaster:) In short, I'm in charge of the thing you are currently looking at, as well as the newsletter that gets sent out to you all (you are subscribed to it... right?..) Ok well anyway, I am a third year Communications major here at SDSU! Yes I do be talking though.
I was born and raised in Orange County (not the anti-mask part of OC though I promise). Since early adolescence, I have spent a lot of time fangirling over various things. So much so, that fangirling has pretty much taken over my life well into my late teens and I guess early 20s ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. You can find me crying over One Direction, The Hunger Games, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Twilight... the list just goes on. I have no shame. To be completely honest, quarantine has been a perfect time to dive very deep back into all those things. I found myself slipping with absolutely no way of saving myself. But hey, it's a great way to pass time:) However, I did pick up some fun hobbies while staying at home. I found myself making earrings and key chains out of heat shrink paper (all fangirl related things of course), doing a couple paint by number canvases, and ~interior decorating~ which is just me saying I completely redid my room hehe :3
Now onto AB Samahan. I'm not even exaggerating when I say this, but Samahan has changed my life. Yes, I made the best friends I could have asked for. Yes, I found that home away from home that everyone looks for. Yes, I was given opportunities and resources I didn't have before. But on top of all that, I've learned a lot about what it means to be Fil-Am. There's so much more to learn about my identity, and that education comes from so many places just within Samahan— from the meetings to the everyday interactions with fellow Samahomies. We have all come very far in our lives, and we have so much more to achieve. I believe that Samahan has pushed me towards the right path, and I believe that it can for you too.
Anyway, Legacy Board is so stoked to meet you and have you join our family! This year is far from conventional, but know we are gonna make it as memorable as we can:) Stay safe y'all<33
