Hi, good MORNING y’all! My name is Julian Natividad (he/him/his) and I’m your Political Affairs Coordinator for 2019-2020. I’m also a second year TFM Production Premajor AND a Resident Advisor (RA) over in Maya/Olmeca.

Although I’ve lived in San Diego- Rancho Bernardo/Poway area- for over 10 years now, I was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. Although I ALWAYS pride myself on being a New Yorker, if you ask about which city I prefer and I’ll still find difficulty answering it. New York has the SUPERIOR pizza though, just saying.

As hobbies and interests, I’ve always found joy in urban dance, writing, worldbuilding, music, spending time with friends, road trips, food trips, occasionally drawing/painting, and even running, hiking, and cycling.

I also enjoy hosting, driving, and overall taking care of others- a very paternal thing, I know- but it IS something I find value in. I think the main motif of my life is generally to help others find enjoyment, inspiration, and entertainment; probably the reason why I’m taking up filmmaking and why I’m invested in a lot of artistic mediums. While I can come off as very extroverted and such, JUST know that I do have a social battery.

I joined Samahan because of an ongoing understanding and appreciation for my culture which I found when I moved to San Diego, where it’s not as diverse as New York. I’ve attended Samahan’s high school conferences throughout my high school life and seeing as how I came to San Diego State, I wanted to be further involved and give back to a group that impacted me in ways I probably haven’t noticed.

We currently live in a very divided, politically complex time in U.S. History, and I believe that we all have an opportunity to project our voice further than it’s already been done. As Political Affairs, my hope is to inform y’all about the goings-on in our world, from the collegiate or local levels upward, and to help motivate and inspire the next generations of Fil-Am leaders. But I will do my best to make it as palatable and as entertaining as possible without demeaning the topics or people affected.

I hope I can serve you all as a good public informant, EBoard Officer, and kuya! Aside from all the formalities, I’m always around to support and be a friend to y’all! Looking forward to meeting all of you :)
