What’s happening y’all! My name is Elijah Dollente (he/him/his) I am a 2nd year graphic design major as well as the public relations coordinator for the 2021-2022 Executive Board! One of my main responsibilities is to connect the org with the community, general body members, and other external orgs. Additionally, I oversee all our social media platforms and create flyers, posters, and any other art medium for the organization. (I would like to apologize in advance for all the spelling errors lol)
I recently moved down here just this last year from Seattle, WA. Most of my days consist of thrifting, designing things in photoshop, and watching anime. Call me crazy, but I’m currently trying to catch up to One Piece. I’m on episode 568 of 980+ so wish me luck! You can also catch me vending at Kobey’s Swap Meet: Vintage Alley on the last Saturday of each month. If you’re ever in the area I would highly recommend checking it out, there is a little something for everyone. So Feel free to stop by my booth and say what’s up (or buy some clothes, it’s totally up to you). I’m always down to chat about whatever whenever, especially if it’s about Pokemon (I’m a huge fan, y’all don’t even understand). In my down time, I like to draw or paint while listening to music. (Talk to me about music too. I got taste, let me put you on). More often than not I find myself indulging in any and all creative projects that pique my interest.
As for the upcoming school year I’m most definitely looking forward to encountering life on campus and meeting everyone in person. Whether it be in class or GBMs, I'm excited for all the new experiences to come my way, both good and bad. Furthermore, I can’t wait to support all the events the other officers have planned out such as FG, KAA, HSC, and FCN!
Going into college I didn’t know anyone at all. No one I knew from high school went to SDSU, I had zero friends, and the only family I have here are my two uncles who graduated a couple years ago. It was a fresh start for me and the online environment didn’t make it any easier. Thankfully I found AB Samahan. At first I only went to a meeting or two out of pure interest. I honestly didn’t think I would be as active as I am today. Then I signed up for KAA, met a bunch of people online, and one thing led to another and here I am on the executive board (What? How did that happen? Idek) I couldn’t tell you where I would be today if I had never joined. Diving into the culture with other members of the Fil-Am community has filled a part of me that was once missing. This organization made my experience as a first year a thousand times better and I genuinely hope everyone has a similar experience.
I think that’s enough about me. I don’t really like talking about myself but I do want to learn more about yall! Hopefully I get to see you soon!
