My name is Edward Khris Fernandez and I am a Third Year Transfer student from Los Angeles double majoring in; Theater: Design and Technology, and Hospitality and Tourism with an emphasis on Meetings and Events Operations Management. (Now that's a mouthful - "that's what she said" - does anyone still say that?)
Before taking a two-year gap to find out what I wanted to do (do the math, I'm kinda old) I originally became a Violin Performace Major at California State University: Los Angeles before switching over to Theater. (I also used to major in Math and Business because of Asian parents but you know - my life). I've performed on many stages as a violinist including the Greek Theater LA. I've also played the violin for the John Marshall Symphony Orchestra where we won a Signature Grammy Award for our cover of The Who's "Baba O'Riley". I then fell in love with concerts and became a lighting and audio technician for events.
I transitioned to the theater and worked as a Stage and Production Manager for many theaters in Los Angeles including East West Players, The Bootleg Theater, The Greek Theater, and many more. While freelancing in the gig economy, I maintained a job at Universal Studios Hollywood as a Retail Operations Lead before transitioning into the Entertainment Department at Universal Studios where I became an Entertainment Operations Show Crew member and an Assistant Pyrotechnician. (Yes, I am licensed to shoot fireworks in the air.)
Now I am living here in sunny San Diego and am your Stage Manager for AB Samahan's Filipino Cultural Night! If you wanna find out more about me visit my website! edwardkhrisfernandez.com or find me on campus at Slounge or Starbucks!
Finally, shout out to AB Samahan for giving me an avenue to make friends, and shout out to Battle Squad and the BBB fam!
