Hey y’all! My name is Abby Alano, I’m a second year double majoring in ISCOR and Linguistics, and I’m your acting director for this year’s FCN!
I was born in Zamboanga City, Philippines, but my fam and I moved here to the US when I was five— first to Chicago, IL, then Albuquerque, NM, Phoenix, AZ, Flagstaff, AZ, somewhere in Nevada (I always forget which city oops), and finally, here, to the good ole Golden State! Now, I live in Santa Maria, a small city between San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara. It’s about a five-hour journey to get there, but hey, there’s more boba spots here in SD so it’s definitely worth it. :D
I love to write (but only when inspiration hits, which honestly is almost never RIP), eat spicy food, randomly take pictures of my friends AND of nature, sing show tunes at the top of my lungs at the expense of those around me, read, watch anime and K-dramas, learn new languages (I know Spanish and Tagalog, and I'm currently learning Korean and Arabic), drink boba, eat sweets, watch horror movies and regretting it later at night, and to act. Like, seriously, I LOVE to act, even with my limited formal education in drama. My very first role was in elementary school as a mad scientist, then later joined drama club in high school since freshman year. I’ve acted in one musical and three plays (excluding the two plays I participated in elementary), as well as participating in APSA’s Fashion Talent Show my freshman year.
Although it’s my first FCN, I’m super excited to be the acting director for this year! I hope that I can help bring well-rounded and vivid characters to life and into characters everyone can relate to. I can’t wait to work with the actors, collaborate with the rest of the FCN board, have fun, new memories with everyone, and create a final product everyone would be proud of! :)
