What’s GOOD y’all! My name is Eleanor Mauhay (she/her/hers), I am a second year Biology major with a minor in Psychology, and I am your Community Affairs Coordinator for the 2019-2020 school year! I was born and raised here in San Diego, though I moved around the city a couple times throughout my early childhood years (military brat woop woop). Outside of California, I’ve lived in Honolulu, Hawaii and currently in Yokosuka, Japan, yet here I am in SD for school!
Some interests and hobbies of mine consists of painting my favorite memes, watching the sunset/sunrise, photography, music, and sometimes binging on Netflix (if I have time). Spontaneous or not, I also genuinely enjoy going on trips with friends, whether it be for food, boba (of course), or to just chill anywhere.
I found my second home in Samahan; the people I’ve met and experiences I’ve had within this organization created a sense of welcome and bayanihan for me. Samahan has empowered me in my own cultural identity and has given me the best support system. I am not only a stronger individual because of my involvement, but also a stronger leader. It has become one of my strong passions to leave people and places better than when I initially found them. As your Community Affairs, I hope to provide community service opportunities and encourage y’all to be more actively engaged and prioritize giving back to the communities that surround and support our organization. And what better way to gain experience than with the organization I can proudly call my family!
If we ever cross paths on campus, please don’t be a stranger and be hesitated to say hi! I often spend most of my time on campus, so you can catch me socializing in the student lounge or studying at the library! Words can’t describe how EXCITED I am to meet and get to know you, so hit me up if you need anything, I’m here for y’all (:
