Hellaur hellaur everyone! My name is Lala Vicencio (she/her) and I am one of your Cooperative Cultural Affairs Coordinators (a.k.a. “CoCo”) this year alongside Alyssa! I am a second year communications major with a minor in film. As CoCo, I am in charge of all things to do with Filipino and Filipino-American culture in Samahan! This includes leading and planning events during Filipino-American History Month, directing our annual Filipino-American Culture Night in April, weekly gbm reports, and so much more! 

 

I am from Sunnyvale, CA (408 BAYBEEEE) if yk where that is LOL but if not just know I’m from the Bay Area. If you know where Levi’s Stadium or Great America is, I’m right next to them. I went to Fremont High School (no not Fremont High in Fremont, Fremont High in Sunnyvale, yes ik its confusing). In high school I participated in color & winter guard and choir (even tho i cannot sing). I love to watch movies, listen to music, and hang out with my friends! If you ask me which movies I’m watching I’m either gonna tell you I’m binging all Marvel movies in chronological order or watching some 80s/90s throwback. My music taste varies so much its crazy tho. One day I could be listening to 88rising, the next maybe rap, then any 2000s r&b song, or 80s/90s boy bands, and the next I could be listening to 1D, Jonas Brothers, or any childhood throwback. I enjoy going for a drive (and carpool karaoke-ing), vlogging, doing my nails, getting food, or merely just spending time with my friends! 

 

As a first year last year, living in a new environment was scary especially since I didn’t really know anyone from my high school that went to SDSU. However, joining AB Samahan has given me my home away from home and I hope to bring that to all of you as well! I have met some of the best people through this org and it feels so great being able to be part of such an amazing community. Being in Samahan has helped me realize what I’m passionate about which is exactly why I’m here, today, as one of your CoCos! I am so excited for what we have in store for y’all!
